I'm sure I could have looked this up on the old forum.
I've got another brand of ammo to try in my Marlin 1936 , but , so far most have been hitting to the right side of POA.
I may need to adjust windage for my first time ever
I'm thinking that it would be better to move the rear sight left instead of loosening the front by moving it to the right.
I'm also going to have to remove the factory rear sight on my Marlin 1894 so I can install a reciever sight on it.
I don't want to beat up either sight or the bluing.
What is the best taping/ moving implement without haveing a sight pusher?
I think both these are 3/8" dovetails.
STOP ! Don't remove the rear sight until after you've installed the peep, and aligned it with the (hopefully) sighted-in open sights.
A 3/8" wooden dowel, used as a drifting tool, won't mar blueing or metal.
Remove the rear sight elevator and slide a thin piece of paper under the rear of the rear sight leaf before drifting the sight out, to avoid scratching the barrel top with it.
An EZ brass drift can be taken from the hinge pin of any old passage door brass hinges - just tap out the pin & use it.
Thanks Pete ,
I will make sure to get the new sight installed and dialed in to the factory before removing it.
Never thought about the paper ( or something ) between the site and barrel
Door hinge pins Those I have.
Should I file a small flat on the hinge pin ?
Once it moves a little I'll use a dowell.
