Tell Hagler I Went Over To The Dark Side, And Bought..
A Henry today ! Well, at least I put a deposit on it, on impulse.
It looked pretty good, and the $200 price tag for as-new/no-box looked good, too.
It has a ramp mounted, hooded front sight - so methinks it a H001T.
When I get done paying for it, I'd like to replace the barrel and forend bands with blued steel.
The forend band look a lot like a Win 94 band - no ?
And the open top ring on the barrel band looks a little like a band I've seen on some Marlins. Hmmmmm.

I was going to get jealous, but then I realised you were talking about the replica that's not a replica made by a non-repentent replica named company! Look forward to the range report!

Heck, I darn near fell out of my seat! I though you were talking about an Uberti "Henry" replica for $200 essentially NIB!!!
Congrats on your Henry .22 - post a picture of it when you can!!!

I like the little henrys. My buddy has one and it's a hoot-2-shoot.
BTW Pete, if you don't like your avatar being stretched you can go into the User Control Panel, Profile tab, edit avatar; then at the botom you can specify the size of your avatar. Just set the height back to what it was before and click "submit".

Thanks for the control panel tip, Andrew - I was clueless.

Well, Pete, I guess I am flattered.
The H001 "T" (Frontier) model has the octagon barrel, and dovetailed front sight. If you have an 18" round barrel, with the standard lever, and a ramped, hooded front sight, then you have the H001 ("regular", or "standard") model. The regular Henry has the much-maligned palstic barrel bands & front sight. The hood is steel. Are your stocks particularly nice, or are they just nice-looking walnut?
...oh, there ain't nothing dark about thses Henrys. They are a hoot to shoot, and sooooooo easy to use. Good for you!

Re: Tell Hagler I Went Over To The Dark Side, And Bought..
I guess it's not a "T", Shawn - since it's got a round barrel.
The nice, figured, dark walnut stocks was what drew my eye, in the gun shop - as (from afar) I first thought it to be a 9422, until I spotted the action cover screws.
I also liked the cover's finish - it looks like blued steel, but I had heard they were painted.
The barrel say it's for Shorts, Longs or L.R.'s.
I'm leaning toward a NECG peep for it - but I gotta pay it off, first.

Re: Tell Hagler I Went Over To The Dark Side, And Bought..
I thought I was going to see one of these when I read the thread title:
or maybe one of these:
The Henry's have very smooth actions - albeit very modern design/manuf process but they are good little rifles no doubt.
And I did't realize there were people with "beefs" against the Henry Rifle Company - yeah, I don't like the plastic hardware either, but the company's name being "Henry" is an issue? I mean, the Italians put "Henry" on their replica's... and nobody seems to mind.
At least these are US made rifles - albeit in Brooklyn.

I think I may buy one of my sons a Henry .22. Haven't made up my mind yet.
Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter.

Brooklyn isn't in the US. It's another woild.
I know, I used bunk school to take the subway train there (Coney Island Amusement Park) when I was a little kid.

Re: Tell Hagler I Went Over To The Dark Side, And Bought..
Henry rifles, whether small caliber or large, are designed in such a way, because of liabilities, I'd assume, that they give the appearance of toys I played "Cowboys & Indians" with when I was a kid. As a result, I'm put off by them. They just don't LOOK like they SHOULD with the name "Henry" on them. My 2 cents, jd45

Congrats on going after a Henry. I'm thinking of buying an H001 some day to compliment my H001T. Fun guns to shoot. Please let us know when you get it, how it shoots and please remember the pictures.
