I smell range time...

Post by Andrew »

...and perhaps a report of said range time. Check the spread:

Image

100 Aguila Colibri
100 Aguila Super Colibri
100 CCI Mini-Mags
1100 Federal Bulk

And yes, I will be very careful/attentive with the spit-shot loads in the rifle.

My buddy has need for a quiet pest deterent for use at his job and I am just curious what they might shoot like, so I bought 'em.

I heard good things about the Mini-Mags and wanted to try them too.

The Federal bulk? That's to warm up with and wind down with after I have spent my half of the fancy stuff. No, I do not plan on shooting ALL of this pile in one sitting.

And Joe, I do solemnly swear to bring my kit and clean my gun more than every 500rds this time. :D

Looks like fun!
My 9422 Trappers barrel has to be clean as a whistle to shoot the Super Colibri, otherwise the bullet wont make it all the way out. Bring a cleaning rod to push them out, just in case.
You may be surprised at how well the Fed bulk shoots.

Yes, sound advice and thank you.

Actually to be honest, I have never bought anything but the Fed bulk. The 9422 has had nothing but a steady diet of it for as long as I have been shooing it. I am pretty stoked at trying some new stuff. :D

That looks like a load of fun Andrew. I'm jealous! :)

Andrew.
Some more advice on the Colibri and Super Colibri...those Colibris are scary quiet and I've never had a bullet stuck in the bore with either (knock on wood) ...after over 2000rds.

Just make sure you use a backstop that'll make some sort of noise when its hit or always keep your eye out for a hole on the target.

If you don't, you'll never know if the bullet exited or not.

And before switching from the Colibri to any other brand, run a rod thru just to make sure the last bullet cleared the bore.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

is that a 9422 ?? I'm crying my eyes out ....

bought one of those brand-new in '72 .... fabulous rifle.

Sold it in '97 because I hadn't been shooting in years.

Now I can't afford to buy another one.

Cheers,

Looks like a heck of an afternoon in the making! As the others said, be careful with the Colibri's. They are a bunch of fun, but make sure they do actually exit the barrel!

The cheapest of the match type stuff is Wolf match. It usually does pretty good in our little .22 BR matches we shoot around here. I bought some Remington match stuff and it won't even chamber in my 10/22 match barrel with out bumping the slide release home the last 1/2" on every shot. Atfer the bump it does shoot better than the Federal bulk stuff though. Shoot as many different kinds as you can get your hands on you might find one that will give one hole groups, they'll surprise you.

Win. 9422,

Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Bought one back in 1972 new, $125.00. Still have it and it looks like brand new. I even bought a Weaver 22 scope at the same time. Y'all know when Weaver's were made in the US, of by God, A. That little rifle has more quality to it than all them Win 94's. When that 9422 is pulled out people take notice. They want to try it for a few rounds. A reallllllllll tack driver. Nuf said.

No flame, Andrew, but you photo is a good example of why a light, solid color background is best for a photo. I had to look more than once at the photo to see the boxes of ammo; they were "camo'ed" by the print in the fabric. Again, just some constructive comments from a wannabee photographer.

Given the selection of ammo, it looks as if you're all set for a really nice time at the range. Those Colibris are indeed muy quiet. I have a friend whose knuckle-cracking is louder than a Colibri.

Have fun!

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .

Oh no, I much appreciate constructive criticism. I know the light was poor and the background was icky, but it was right there in the living room and I just got all my stuff together and I was reaaalllly excited.....well,you get the idea. :D

I prefer KirkD style pics outside for the most part.

I don't have as many excuses anymore since my Wife got here Nikon D40X, that sucker takes some pictures! 8)

I never paid much attention to background either until I started hanging out here. Been getting much better pictues since I started using an old Army blanket. Nice neutral color and fits the vintage guns.

I'd love a new Nikon!!!!

Looks like a good day of shooting. The Colibris are fun but as the others have said; make sure they hit something. I shoot them out of a martini w /a 32" barrel. I've never had one stick but it's a well broken in barrel.
