Whenever I encounter someone stupid like that pontificating, I mumble 'approvingly' ".....your comments are a perfect illustration of the Dunning-Kruger effect..."
The funny (sad) thing is, they actually take it as a compliment.....
Yea, I was thinking about that today when I looked at the calendar. Today is the tenth anniversary of my fathers death. I was moping around the house all day and then I realized, hell, he don't know it. Other than my son, he was the best friend I ever had.....I could believe anything he said and never knew him to be a liar of any sort.
But....it was a "good death".....here one moment, happy, and gone 10 hours later from a massive stroke and I told the doc to stop administrating stupid medicine.
As for stupid people, I agree. The same can be said for smart people. My brother, who thinks he is the "Worlds Smartest Person" thought he was so smart that my dad did not realize the screwing over he was giving my dad for over 40 years.....always condescending him about his eighth grade education among other things and laughing behind his back. A few days after my dad died, my brother found out that my dad was not all that stupid and my brother was not all that smart. The lawyer read the will and there were only two names on it, mine and my sisters.
The worst thing about stupid people is that they think they are as bright as everyone else. To put it another way, they think that other people are as dumb as them.
I work with a couple of people who do not have the brains the good Lord gave a carrot, and they are forever trying to outsmart each other, which is endlessly entertaining. Another is a manager who keeps imagining motivations for other people that would embarrass the average fluffy housecat. She is more intelligent than a whale. But if you put her in a room with a whale and a labrador, she would feel intimidated.

You have absolutely no idea just how timely that is today. Sometimes I need a really, really big hammer, but employers won't let me use it.

As one who has technically been "to the other side" for several minutes, I only know what I think I remember.
As-opposed to the dozens of living people who desperately want to tell me where I've been...
No one has ever enjoyed a profound statement as much as the person who thought it up.
