New Ruger AR 556
I bought this a couple months ago as a quick replacement for my Colt AR.
Haven't shot it yet as I wanted to get my EOTech fixed and a new Magpul stock set. The factory Ruger stock was way too short for me.
Range report to follow soon!

Very cool. I have the same fore-end, but bought Magppul's K2 grip, which features the more vertical AK47 grip angle and is supposed to be more comfortable for short rifles. Check it out.

Cool. Is that model the gas-tube type or the piston type...?

Regular gas style.
Looking forward to experimenting with the 1:8 barrel also.

Re: New Ruger AR 556
the 1:8 barrel should be great for heavy bullets...
if you think you're influencial, try telling someone else's dog what to do---will rogers
Re: New Ruger AR 556
How heavy? Up to 75 Gr, do you think?

I have been looking at one myself. I'll be eager for your report!

The Ruger website says bullet weights from 34 to 77 grains. I have 40, 50, 55, 62 and 69 grain bullets to play with but I'llsouthfork wrote:How heavy? Up to 75 Gr, do you think?
start with 55 & 62 first.

Re: New Ruger AR 556
A friend of mine bought one of those a couple of months ago as well --- so far he loves it --- I hope your experience is similar
HE wanted the 6920 Colt, but this one was a bit cheaper, -- knowing I'm a gun tinkerer of sorts he asked my advice , ---- naturally I told him to buy both and get back to me on which one is better in about 5 years or 15,000 rounds - whichever comes first -

Have to love an AR that will handle the Sierra 69-grain MatchKing. That's a handsome rifle.
