Received a small bit of history on my Savage 1899 today from Savage historian John T Callahan...first I was incorrect on the year it was made,it was made in 1915 and sat in the Savage warehouse for 10 months before it was shipped out, also found it interesting that my Savage has all the special order features that are in the letter.
I also found it interesting that it was shipped to the Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Store in 1916,I did some research and found that the man Iver Johnson had a large sporting goods store besides manufacturing firearms.
Just wish I could find out how it ended up in Pennsylvania 100 years later.
Very nice gun!! Don't it make you wonder where it has been all its life to be in such fine condition. A hundred years is a LONG time. I just hope I look that good at a hundred.
A great find!
