I've been trying to decide what I want for some time now.
there's a new Indian/ Victory dealership that opened nearby and had time to stop in yesterday.
Turns out that an old friend from high school is a sales girl there and we spent some time checking out all the bikes and
chatting. I kept going back to the Scout, it just seemed to fit me the best. I've always had dirt bikes and dual sports so this
will be my first cruiser. Still need to work on getting my strength, endurance and balance back to where it belongs after this winter's extended hospital stay but every day it gets better!
This is the one they had on the floor but I'm thinking black with the tan seats.

Great bike and affordable. The standard scout has a 100 H.P. The scout sixty which MSRP is $9000 has 70 H.P. I was very temped by one myself when the local Honda/ Yamaha shop picked up Indian. But I just picked up a used bike last fall after not having one for a few years. I'll have to see how much I really drive my bike before I dive into a brand new one. I would compare the Scout to a 1200 sportster , size wise, but much more H.P.
I like the silver and tan. Black is so ... non-rebellious...

That's a good looing bike! There's an Indian dealership just opened up down the street from my work, I might have to go check them out. I like the silver too!
That bike really looks good. I've been reading in AIM that the Victory is quite a good machine.
I've owned a ridden a bunch of different brands over the years but the last Indian I had was a '37 Sport Scout that had been a flat tracker originally. The one with roller cams and magneto. Would have been better on the street with a front brake instead of the spool wheel it had.
My current ride which has been with me several years.

I think my Big Bike days are over. "If I can't pick it up, I can't ride it." I still have a real nice Cow-A-Sucky 900 Vulcan. Perfectly fine scoot, but I sure miss cruise control.

That looks good to me. A really cool ride. I guess I'd have to see a black one to compare it to but I do like the silver one. Maybe it's because I'm used to it. 2003 Anniversary Edition 1200 XL with a bunch of goodies so that it dynos at 95 hp. Plenty for a 71 yr old. To be truthful, I'd rather have a stock one with QUIET pipes. Can't hear nuthin' the way it is.
Blaine, the solution to picking the bike up is to get a chick who is capable of doing it for you. Or at least giving enough assistance that the two of you can get the job done.

If she's big enough to pick up the bike, she might make him ride on the back

That's pretty much my plan. OD with a Eurpean Theater star on it. But I'm going to start with the Smoke/ matte black for now.
Once I get a few things paid for and straighten out our insurance co. I got a bill today for $583k that said Due upon receipt.

That's one good looking bike though. As are the Victory bikes. The Harley Soft Tail I think, sits really low, is ironically, a bike that felt really "right" to me sitting on it, that I would not have thought I would like.

I'm a huge fan of the Yamaha Royal Star. It features a big V-4 liquid cooled engine that is smooth and powerful. Exhaust notes sound like a mean growl. Riding position is very comfortable.

I had one of those that I rode every time it would start. Which wasn't very often. But I loved it.

I have an 04 Road King, and a 98 Dyna Wide Glide. My favorite is the Wide Glide.
I kind of like the Victory's and the Indians, but I don't know, it cost so much to trade and get a new bike set like I would want it. I will probably just keep my old bikes until I can't ride anymore. The great thing about Harleys is you can get parts even for the old ones, and there are plenty of independent mechanics that still work on them so I don't have to go to the stealer if I don't want to.
May ruffle some feathers, but these days the best place to get a good deal on a used Harley is off an Indian/Victory dealer's trade-in lot.
I'm in awe of what Polaris has done to start the Victory line and to bring back the Indians. So far it seems gold to them.
I would have a Scout right now, but I'm still bothered by that puny 3.3 gal tank. I figure there's going to be another variation come along (blacked out long range scout?) in later production.
As far as Indian - they've got their marketing and production sights zeroed in on HD. Their latest model is the Indian Springfield - their version of the Road King.
Custom 'Army' Scout - after you get over drooling on the Thompson, check out the leather and paint details, and custom work like the rear lights
My current chrome that I covet. Indian Springfield, model just introduced.
