Any C96 Mauser admirers here?
I came across a very nice leather pouch system for the C96 Mauser. Looks to be Chineese, but carries enough extra clips to start a war. Probably belongs in somebody's Mauser collection.

The "Broomhandle"? I'm an admirer. Almost bought one earlier this year on GunBroker.com. Glad I waited though - found the deal I had been looking for on my Browning 1886 SRC a couple months later, and wouldn't have had the funds for it had I bought the C96.
Now you got me thinking about the pistol again... every collection should have one, and I don't!

Yes Scott;
I consider myself an admirer. In the mid 90's I bought one of Federal Ordanance's M96 refurbished models, in 9mm para. It was neat to shoot, and reasonably accurate. At the same time, I got a newly made buttstock holster to go with it. I stored the pistol in the holster, but never shot it with the holster attached. Just wasn't sure if it was legal. Most of my handgun shooting at the time was done at an indoor range frequented by plenty of law enforcement officers. I decided not to press my luck.
I never got stripper clips for it, but learned to load the magazine muck like a Mauser rifle, while trusting the hammer catch to hold the bolt back. Never got bit (luckily).
I let it go a while ago, I'm not sure why. Probably thought I had too many guns at the time. But I forgot to sell the holster with it.
Not long after selling it, someone offered me a Bolo model, in original condition in 7.62x25mm. Unlike most of the Bolo pistols I've seen, this one still has rifling left in it. And the holster fits too. I have not yet fired it, but plan to. However, I only want to do so with mild cast bullet handloads, at least until I get a better feel for the thing. Still not sure about shooting it with the holster/stock attached.
It was almost certainly imported from China, but appears to have some faint Russian markings. The finish is mostly brown, but there is no real rust or pitting.
For some reason, my digital camera and current computer do not get along. When that gets resolved, I will try to post some pictures of it.
By the way, I have seen one of those bandolieer holsters at a gun show. It must weigh a ton all full of ammo.
