New Marlin .44 mag takedown

Post by kmittleman »

Hi yall,

Maybe I'm going crazy or dreamed this, but I saw an article on a stainless Marlin 1894 in .44 mag ( in some gun mag at Wal Mart ). It isn't on the Marlin website hence my confusion. The thing is that it's a take down model and Marlin changed the rate of twist to 1:20 for heavier bullets. Anyone heard of this?

It was a custom made rifle for Brian Pearce writing in Rifle magazine. Looked pretty neat, but I bet it cost a minor fortune!

Might be a special run for Davidsons or some such.

takedown

That is a custom, prolly one of a kind built by a gunplumber in Texas for Brian Pearce.. I had this guy quote me between $500 and $600 to rebarrel a Marlin 94 with a 1-20 Shilen barrel.. too rich for my blood.. Les

The super cool Marlin you saw was built by DRC. They have it on thier website, but the website is not finished yet. I really liked the stainless octagon barrel they had :D No price listed though.

In my experience - if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

I just checked with "Wild West Guns" and he told me that he can make a 1894 Marlin a takedown... Listed on their custom shop list at $550 plus your gun and it requires refinishing.... I suppose that if its a stainless you woudnt need refinishing.
