Post more details; maybe some of us who've already messed ours up then figured out what we did wrong can help...

Think i got it. I tightened the screws down tight and not just snug. Could barely load the magazine and the cartridges wouldnt even feed. But now it seems to be working fine. I backed off the cartridge guide and carrier screws about a turn and its running smooth

I've done that myselfJoe S. wrote:Think i got it. I tightened the screws down tight and not just snug. Could barely load the magazine and the cartridges wouldnt even feed. But now it seems to be working fine. I backed off the cartridge guide and carrier screws about a turn and its running smooth

I do wish all gun screws were Torx though...

(actually, ALL screws; the only thing I might like even better is square drive)

Re: Not a 92 mechanic...
I am glad that was it. I put it up because i got frustrated. Was racking my brain trying to figure out what i could have done to screw it up and it clicked. I barely had to apply pressure to loosen them but tightened em down pretty good. So i went and got it out of the safe and started loosening the screws a quarter turn at a time. About a full turn out it started smoothing out...

Hey Joe,
Are you sure it was a guide screw? I see them all the time with the bolt to lever pin plug screw really loose from Rossi. This is the one on the upper left.

For some reason rossi many time drills that hole too deep and when you crank that plug screw in it binds on the bolt. So, they just leave that plug screw loose.
Another thing to look for it the lever to bolt pin dragging on the inside. What I do once it's assemble and if the bolt feels like it's binding is open the action and give the bolt a whack or two on each side with a wooden mallet or hammer handle. This helps center the pin.
