Front sight shape?

Post by iceman »

I have just ordered a Skinner Sight front sight. It is a post type. I was wondering if I should slope the post like the marbles sour dough or leave as is. I ordered 2 of them so if I mess up I have a spare. By the way they are made of brass.

Not sure. It would be interesting to see pictures - of the sight when it comes in, and what you are intending to do with it. I know I'm not the only one that needs pictures to think!!!

I know exactly what you are referring to. For my purposes I'd leave the face of the sight straight.

Are you going to serrate the rear face to reduce glare or how are you planning on taking care of that?

I don't know Ya'll, I reckon I just don't tinker with much anymore. If it don't work as sdvertised I send it back. Although with older eyes I admit , that I do often use fright orange nail polish on the back of a front site. Even on some hand guns.
What ever tha's tidbit is worth...........

But I sure learn a lot from ya'll . Maybe that's why I don't have to do much tinkering . :D

To Jmiller I didn't plan on anything. Just an idea to slope the eye onside to match the old sourdough style. I then thought that since the whole sight is brass . maybe not so good.I'll knpw better once sight is installed. Just an idea to catch light yet not change poi. The old sour dough was basically basesd on that idea. I have a spare so what the heck, if it doesn't work threway i like, just use as a regular post. Just my .02
