Which rifle of yours is your childs favorite?

Post by piller »

My daughter likes my Puma .480 Ruger, and at the range refuses to give it back until we are out of ammo. Do any of you have a child who does the same thing, and if so, isn't it great to see it happen?

I have a little 22 cricket that my granddaughter loves to shoot, Thanks to a really kind fellow that goes by the screen name of piller. He loaned it to me at our Texas shoot for her to try.

The SKS and the 10-22 rather than the Winchester 94. Where did I go wrong? ;-) They also prefer the Norinco Model of the 1911 A1 over the Ruger Vaquero... Oh well, I went through the semi-auto phase too. Thank God I out grew it...

Not a rifle but rather a shotgun....Ruger Red Label O/U SS 12 gauge. When she broke her first sporting clay with it, she named it "Excaliber" and laid immediate claim to it.

Believe or not my grandsons love a H&R 410 single shot shotgun. It is about 90 years old. I have 60 guns and they love that one. That is what makes shooting and being outdoors so much fun. I am sure later on they will go up the ladder in their taste.

I bought both of my children numbers matching Ruger 10-22's last Christmas. That went over really great until we went to the Range.
My Daughter Wanted to try my Savage 17 HMR With heavy target barrel and a very powerful 12 power scope. She shot a 10 shot group that would fit on a Playing card at 100 yards, with that gun and now claims it as her Rifle. She is 12.

My son loves my bull-barrelled Winchester 94 Custom.

I bought him an EMF/Rossi "Short Rifle" 92 in .45 Colt, but, he let me know that he'd rather have my '73 rifle! So... now I'm trying to figure how to buy him one, (along with several on my list). The Short Rifle will become my pig gun, and I'm thinking of getting myself the Cimarron "Border Rifle". But, if I do, I'll just bet he decides he likes that better after I found out that his mom let it slip that I was working on a .30-30 project rifle for his B-Day. He let me know that he'd rather have a few mods to his; a ½round/½octagon with full-length mag, pistol grip, but it has to be a top-eject and non-safety.

Oh well... I'm just glad that he feels that gun ownership, hunting & target shooting is his birthright.

My 11 yr old daughter loves my dad's old Win. M67 single shot 22. She calls it PaPa's gun and would really like to have it but I'm not ready to part with it.

My son is 19 now and has some of his own. I have a warning from him though, never sell the Cowboy II. I think that's his favorite levergun.

My son LOVES the 1894CL in 32-20 and our Ruger Bearcat. My older daughter dearly loves her old 99 Savage in 300 Savage. The boy keeps me fairly busy at the reloading bench with that 32-20. Older daughter only shoots a couple boxes a year, but is quite deadly with that old rifle.

My T/C Renegade 54 , or "Bear Gun" as my son called it, until I sold it recently. Never knew it was his favorite until he saw it missing on the wall and was devastated! Wish he would have told me!

An HK-300 unfortunately. Looks like I've lost that one. It could have been worse I suppose ... an EBR or 71. He's been eying one of my 22 Diamondbacks lately too ... makes me nervous. I like my rimfires ... hence the moniker.

My two oldest kids (10 & 11) love to shoot my CZ model 27. These girls are a terror to all prickly pear cactus at the Cactus Ranch. They shoot this gun very well, and always comment on how the grip fits those little hands "just right". I have been able to retain possession of it for now...

Quickest way to lose a gun is to let your kids shoot with it. :(

But then it gives you the excuse to buy more.

My son liked to shoot and had his own .22mag, but wasn't really hooked until I bought the Marlin GS. After that, I bought him his own 1895 in 45-70 and he is mighty proud of it. It sits in the safe now that he's in the Navy.

My daughter, petite prissy little 4.0 college student who never really showed an interest in guns, suddenly wanted an AK47 of all things. Completely incongruous with her character. Made me proud cause I wasn't sure where she was at on guns till then and wondered if I had blown it.
