The info is probably available but I can't seem to locate anything.
I'm interested in the year of manufacture of a .375 XTR, low comb, top eject with a Serial # BB052XXX. Any ideas?

AFAIK, the "BB" SN prefix was used on BigBore 94's from Sept 1978 up to the introduction of the Model 94AE BigBore's in the begining of 1983, with production running some 12,000 rifles per year except for 1978.

Re: Win 94 Big Bore Serial Numbers?
Thanks Pete, I just found this on Gun Values Board http://www.gunvaluesboard.com/wincheste ... 02426.html
"Winchester introduced the Big Bore XTR in January 1979. If the butt plate has WINCHESTER marked on it, your Carbine was manufactured prior to January of 1981. If it was "U.S. Repeating Arms Co." on the butt plate, it was manufactured in 1981 or later."
Mine has the red hard rubber recoil pad which is Winchester marked.

FWIW, I have a copy of The American Rifleman from Sept 1978, wherein the NRA published their gun test of the newly-introduced .375 BB94, along with a new Winchester ad for the same on the outside back cover.
AFAIK, about 8,000 were made in 1978. (I once owned SN 10xxx, made in early 1979)
