So what did you guys buy for yourselves for Christmas?

Post by rjohns94 »

I ordered a simply rugged cross draw holster, laminated gun belt and looped ammo pouch, the belt and pouch was border worked while a Celtic knot will show up on the holster. I ordered as well buffalo bore ammo for my Bowen rebore of an OM Ruger 3 screw .357 into a .44 special, 4 5/8 inch barrel with Bowen sights, action work and Turnball CC. I will put my custom Dozer drop point hunting knife on this rig and it should make a nice woods walking rig. Will post pics when I get it all together.

Springfield Armory XD-45C

Not so much for Christmas (although that IS a good excuse!) but because I really like the XD-40 Sub Compact .40 S&W I recently bought and wanted one in .45ACP. The .45 is currently subject to California's stupid 10 day waiting period. Pick it up Friday. :D

Redwing boots. Made in U.S.A. Water resistant, the 8" ones, for general work and riding my bike. Figure that will be the last ones I'll need to get for next 20-30 years.

Had another pair, bought in '86, son got them for his first work, then daughter grabbed them for her job then son got them back. Haven't seen them since except he brought them back for Redwing to re-furb them.

Also two cheap stack-on cabinets (can't dignify them with the name "safes") for storing multiple levers I had stuck under a bed. The mama bear wanted it all picked up.

I am having my 1860 Belgium Colt Centaure 44 C&B Revolver, converted to 45 Colt cartridge with a new cylinder.
The piece was made in 1959 in Belgium. Long before the Italian Clones.
I should have it sometime after the first of the Year.

I've had years where I could buy my self something. Not this year ,but that is OK since I spent the spare cash on the kids and bride and it was money well spent. I buy stuff through out the year.

Nothing for me. I am going fly fishing for a few days, but other than that....

I buy myself stuff all year too. In my business it is feast or famine. Winter happens to be famine, so I have to budget carefully and save money during the summer months when money is good to make it through the winter. Right now there's not much extra laying around, and I don't go use credit or touch the savings for Christmas stuff.

Same here. Usually a few books, but this year with the office-move and my wonderful negative $12k monthly paycheck for November (same expected in December), my plan is to lay-low and then if things go well, get this paid down and stabilize things (if it is even possible under Obummercare), then. . . next year get me a Bighorn Armory 500 S&W Carbine in their nitride-black finish. . . 8) 8) 8)

Yep. If I get a day or two off, and can gather safe and warm under the same roof with my loved-ones, maybe sharing some good food, a few stories, or a movie, and some fine wine (not that evil marijawoony, though... ), and it gets no better. 'Stuff' isn't that important.

(Of course I will hopefully be flaunting and bragging about my Bighorn Armory 'Stuff' later this year... )

Two inadvertant gift which I thought would be ready a loooong time from now, but both became ready at the same time: a Custom Early Lancaster Longrifle and my Super Blackhawk is done at Alan Harton's. Now to start selling my blood at the Red Cross to pay for them and the rest of Christmas. Good problems to have. We are blessed.

I'm actually most excited about the Swedish Mauser I bought my son that I'm going to build a custom scout out of. Kind of a winter long Christmas gift.

Ostensibly it's for the wife... so after the death of her cat last Aug, I bought her a kitten for Christmas... 'Sides, the mice were gettin' bold! But, after about 15 minutes after getting him home... the wife walked out of the office, holding and pettin' the new cat, and said, "...I told myself that I wasn't going to get attached to a new cat."

I asked, "...how long that last, 10 seconds?"

She said, "...no, 'bout 5!"

I got the feel good present of giving!

Nothing for me. Tough times lately with everyone tightening their belts after overspending in the panic at the beginning of the year, but not so tough that the kids won't have a nice Christmas, so everything is good.

A few years ago we had Christmases when we weren't sure how we would be able to have anything to eat, so it doesn't take much to be happy after that.

Sure I will keep you posted bud. My son has always wanted to try a 6.5x55 as have I. It's a great cartridge. This one is actually a 42 Husky model 38 carbine. My son doesn't have a scout and liked what I did with the 03A3 last winter.

Didn't buy myself a thing. I did give my stepdaughter my sweet old 1992 S10 pickup yesterday. I bought it years ago from her now-deceased Daddy, and it had become an object of sentimental significance to her. She'd begged me to sell it to her for three years, ever since I married her Mama, but dadgummit -- I needed a truck! Finally, though, I thought "What the heck?", and gave it to her. Her smile was worth it.

Then, we drove over to Mama and Daddy's for the family get-together, where I discovered that my 90-year-old Dad had finally given up his driver's license (thank you, Lord!) After dinner, as we were leaving, he handed me the title and keys to his pristine '08 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, saying, "Take care of this for me so I don't have to sell it to that *** down the street."

Hard to know for sure the cause of the tears -- part joy, part sadness, all gratitude.

Peace on earth, good will to men...

I was able to gift Myself a Marlin .338 MXLR in September, on a tip that Cabelas in Thornton Colorado had two. several calls later and one was on it's way to Ohio.
Christmas came last night at Church as the Family was able to be together. the service lasted quite awhile and I was happy to take the Grandsons age 20&18 months out in the big Hallway and let them run to their Hearts content. One to remember for sure.

Airline tickets for my boys. They got in yesterday, we did Disneyland, the slugs are still sleeping. Sleeping in their rooms like many years ago. Darn, something in my eye.

I understand the question, but at this time of year, I give away. I gave an extra donation to The Salvation Army, I gave an anonymous gift to couple not-so-well-off kids at church. It is a gift to me to give stuff to those that need, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and proud of my teacher; Jesus...

But fer my birfday I gave myself a M1 Garand Special Grade from CMP
