Winchester 88 358
This is almost beyond belief...
The person offering the rifle put the item up on a 14 day auction without pictures, and indicates that pictures will be comming soon. Doesn't say squat about the condition of the rifle. Now about a week into the auction, the pictures of the rifle are finally uploaded and the condition of the rifle leaves a bit to be desired. Mean while, the bidding is up to $1600, reserve not met on a rifle that has bee ridden hard and put away wet.
See for yourself..

[Why would anyone pay that kind of money for such a rump-ugly gun?!? ]
The number of new or used, genuine .358 Winchester M-88's, I have personally seen F/S since 1970 = zero - and this despite attending about 10 different gun shows per year, including all 6 New England states, New York, and Florida.

From Mic Mcpherson, Metallic Cartridge Reloading, 3rd Edition:
"Co-introduced in 1955, the model 88 Winchester lever-action rifle and the 358 Winchester cartridge were intended as a more modern and profitable replacement for the Model 71 and the 348 Winchester cartridge......the Model 88 and the 358 Winchester cartridge never garnered much consumer support. One reason for this might have beed a little design flaw in the Model 88. I watched one fire while being carried, slung over the shoulder, with the safety on and nothing touching the trigger. I know of two other 88s that did the same thing."
