Today’s jacketed bullets are the best that have been offered by the industry... including the handgun bullets of every caliber. They will perform very well from leveraction velocities...

my 16" Winchester Ranger likes the commercial 125s, easy gong ringer at 100 yards. it actually likes everything I've tried, I don't find mine to be fussy, but I don't shoot paper much so can't compare the minutia amongst them. I think you'll like them and the foxes won't.

I have used 5 different 125gr bullets from W-W and R-P. They were all bulk buys from Midway. Of them the most accurate were the Golden Sabres. Have shot them at 1550fps. Average group size at 200 yards was 3". Sierra should be just as good if not better than these.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Take what you can get....You won't have to drive those 125s too fast for fox and such....If I was hunting deer, I'd use a minimum of a 158gr. Not that the 125 would not work, but, it would tear up too much meat....

Nath,
I have shot factory ammo from 110 to 180 in my M1892 and it shoots them all well, but the 110 were the most accurate in my 20 inch Douglas barrel (must be the twist?). The hollow points do make a mess of anything small like armadillos and foxes, but 125 jacketed flat points can even be used on medium sized deer and hogs and other game you do not want to tear up.
When I loaded my own, my fave deer bullet was a jacketed 140 grainer over H110 at 2000 fps +(flat shooting and still shot through), but now I just use factory 158 JSP on deer and hogs.

I have loaded and shot quite a few 125`s in Marlin carbines in .357. They are fast and in my guns they impact a foot or more high at 100 yd. compared to a good hot 158 gr. load. If you have enough adjustment in your sights they will do well for varmints or smallish deer.

125 should be fine for fox and other varmints but I prefer 158 or heavier for bigger game like goats, deer, and pigs.
