Oral Boards Today...interviewed 12 Sheep-Dog Puppies...

Post by 1894c »

sat on a oral board for the LE Agency i serve, we interviewed 12 candidates (9-hrs) for five Correction Officer positions. always nice to hang out with potential Sheep-Dog Puppies. all 12 were motivated, experienced, well versed, intelligent, and had no clue who Sgt. Joe Friday of LAPD is, their loss. My simple task was to ask questions, score their answers and give my honest assessment of the top five. some Pastors play Golf, me, i hang with Street-Dogs, Door-kickers, Sheep-Dogs, and occasionally i get to see the future in those big puppy eyes... :)

one interesting side-note, my Supervisor just informed me that I will be attending an in-service training on gun-shot wounds (again), we are now required to carry a tourniquet on our person during Patrol, or while on-duty...if you don't think its not dangerous out there...Code-4

PS...new vehicles coming Ford's PUV...not your soccer Mom's mini-van...

Have a CAT on each shoulder of kit. And don't fall for the hype of getting the CAT's with metal rods. Those plastic ones are designed to break at a certain point for a reason.

Anecdote. Some guys were getting hit on convoy/patrol with such regularity they started putting the tourniquet loosely on their outside leg before even leaving the wire.

Is the PUV a Ford Edge?

I just acquired a 2011. 285 HP from a little 6 cylinder engine.

something similar...can't recall the name...also some feminine products (they work, they work well). we also been instructed to use duct tape, plastic packing tape for chest wounds, and other off the shelf items...next purchase is a combat first-aide kit. every year i get more stuff to carry, as an LE Chaplain i'm starting to look like a pack mule...never had the need for a portable radio, but i here that is coming soon...in the end I should have just joined up and became a commissioned officer... :O

from what i've heard it's different...suspension, motor, brakes, roll-bar, of course the lights, radio, tire, siren, bullet-proof glass/windshield package, plus the not-so-comfortable high-impact polymer gray-colored washable back-seat with extended seat-belts and sliding window divider...and the really cooool graphics that say hi i'm from YOUR local friendly LE Agency and i'm here to help...press hard and keep the 3rd copy...although we don't do that anymore either... :)

Don't train with the tourniquet you'll carry.

Get two, use one for training only.
