For All of You Who Served In Vietnam...
Here is a link showing some Zippo lighters that were found in Vietnam. I thought it was very interesting and figured you would also.

That was cool, all those lighters the guys had made up while serving in Hell.
Salute to all the ones that owed them.

Had two of them, only one has survived. The oldest, no markings... the other was embossed with my ship from '72-'73... taken in a theft of my apartment when I got home. (Expletives deleted).

My Zippo is someplace with my memorabilia. Have not seen it in a few years.
Can't really recall exactly what was engraved on it, but I know it had my MED EVAC number.
As opposed to the phony dog tags that the Vietnamese sell to the tourists, the Zippos pictured have a look of authenticity.

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Still have mine in the bottom of the chest, haven't looked at it since 69
Re: For All of You Who Served In Vietnam...
I had a "Zippo", that was a long time ago.
It was not engraved, I don't know what ever became of it.
Don't be so quick to thumb that flint wheel.
The cotton could have been removed, and filled with Flash Powder, and the whick replaces with with a fuse.

Most of those Zippo's were dated after I rotated out in late '66 - neat to see 'm again, though.
Thanks for posting.

Hmm, got one somewhere. Maybe in the cedar wood box that has my dad's and my ribbons, collar brass and stuff. Haven't opened it since dad died in '88, not sure I'm ready yet.
