Lost my Grandfather this morning

Post by fordwannabe »

William Vinton Hoyle SR. passed this morning peacefully in his sleep. Born in 1917 he told us late last year he was ready to go home, and he did today. Not sad for him he was ready and is with many friends including my Daddy and my Grandmother, sad for all the rest of us. Thanks for listening.
The only gun I ever knew he had (besides the one uncle Sam provided in 1942) is a S&W 32 long nickle finish and it resides beside my dads 1911 and my grandmothers High Standard Model A, in my gun safe.Love you POP.

May God bring you peace and joy in knowing that he is home now. I know what you feel as I just this last year before Thanksgiving lost my dad and (My dad mother) grandma in a weeks time. Put your trust in God and he will bring you peace.

You are very fortunate in having had your granddad around as long as he was. I never knew one of my granddad's but heard how wonderful he was. You will always carry those memories of him around with you whereever you go and no one can ever take that from you.

That said, prayers offered up for you and your family sir.

It is hard to see them get so frail in their mid-90s. He is at peace, but he truly lives in your heart, and always will. God bless.

Same here. Celebrate the transition, even as you miss him deeply; he'll remain with you forever.

Lost my grandfather in Aug 2003. It was one day after their 66th anniversary. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him.

Condolences friend. My grandfathers both lived to be 81 years old and being Iowa farmers were pretty well worn out by then.
I was only 8 or 10 when they passed but I remember them both well.

I got to read Psalm 27 yesterday at his service. His ashes are buried next to my Grandmother on one side and both his sister's on the other, and right in front of my Daddy. The cool part was the pastor at the service had known my Grandfather for more than 40 years and during the service made jokes about how the man was, and quoted funny stories he and my Mom, and Uncle had talked about...truley a celebration of the life of my grandfather not a depressing tragic loss thing at all....JUST THE WAY HE WANTED IT AND TOLD EVERYBODY TO DO IT. Not a levergunner ,but a good 'un until past the end
