On a serious note I have been thinking of getting one for awhile the way things have going on in the world as of late. It really feels like the world is coming to end in away

I'm still here! What ever you get, get it soon. There is a fire storm a brewing. May still be legal in the future but prices are sure to jump more that they already have.

We Americans are an influence on the rest of the world? Hmm... we keep hearing that we need to be more like Europe, with your "sensible" gun laws.Derenius wrote:... I just wanted you guys to know that all hope is not yet lost, and to tell you a little about how things work around here on the other side of the pond.
With that said, my thoughts go out to you guys who have to live with this stuff. On the other hand, U S of A is such a big influence on the rest of the world, that we also have to suffer from what happens over in your nick of the woods.
Darn, I just said that I were finished, didn´t I?! Well, be done with it then, dumb Swede...
Well, mostly no...damienph wrote:We Americans are an influence on the rest of the world? Hmm... we keep hearing that we need to be more like Europe, with your "sensible" gun laws.Derenius wrote:...
What I would have the hardest time dealing with is the limit of ten (or less) firearms. Please don't interpret this as bragging but I (and many others here) have... um... somewhat more than that.Derenius wrote:Well, mostly no...damienph wrote:We Americans are an influence on the rest of the world? Sure, there are aspects of your gun laws that would not fly here, but I for one are sad that I cannot own as many leverguns as I want to. On the other hand, the used guns I buy here today, are way cheaper than those you can buy.
For example, my neighbor has a Winchester 1895, it´s in GREAT shape. Three owners, his grandfather got it as a gift from a Swede who moved to Alaska to be a trapper. It´s in .307 Winchester, the bluing is noticeable, the wood is in great shape.
Built in 1912. The maximum amount I´ve seen one of these go for over here, is 1200 bucks...
But that was mint, unfired, in box condition.
The gun my neighbour has, would maybe go for 500$, and if the same gun was sold on action over at your side of the pond, it would easily get 2250$. The gun has all the history from day one documented in national press, and it´s all original. Nothing has been changed.
If I were a fan of those guns, I´d go down there and buy it from him, but I have no interest in box mag guns, sadly.
I´ll try to get some pics of it up on the forum, and you´ll see the difference between how different laws around firearms can change the value of a gun...
As do wedamienph wrote: What I would have the hardest time dealing with is the limit of ten (or less) firearms. Please don't interpret this as bragging but I (and many others here) have... um... somewhat more than that.
Beats me... I guess they can tap themselves on the back, saying "Hey, we did something about all those dangerous weapons out here!"Old Savage wrote:And what the hell do they think these rules achieve?
