Marbles Bullseye

Post by pwl44m »

Here is the sight I mentioned on another thread the other day. It is a Marbles Bulls Eye Long as marked on the package. I thought this was a pretty good answer for poor eyes. No drilling and tapping, slide Your old sight out and slide this one in. Windage and elevation all in one.
I don't know if these are a new thing or not. First one I've seen. I guess trial would answer some questions. I have a Ghost frot sight that I got a while back. Seems like they would make a pretty good combo.
Anybody seen this before and any comments Welcome.

I think Doc AJ has one. I like the looks of it. I put a Marbles full buckhorn on my grandson's 30-30, that is almost a peep sight.

I think they work for some folks depending on your eyes. But, for me they are too far from my eye to work well as a ghost ring.
Also, what I'm finding with the Rossi 92's, at least the 16" and some 20" round barrels, is this sight is too tall to use with the Rossi front. They tend to shoot high and the bullseye rear won't lower enough to correct.
A taller front will sometime help but then you run into the problem of a really tall sight in that shallow dovetail. It is too easily knocked loose.

I have one of these on my Savage 24 22 Mag/20 gauge, and love it. Had one on my Marlin. 1894 C worked great with a Williams firesight up front. I highly recommend them

Some of My questions have been answered, I guess it will depend on the Eyes. It might be too far forward for My eyes. I plan on putting it on My 38-55 conversion. Some of My 94s wont even accept this Sight, theres not enough room between the dovetail and the receiver.
For those of You that have tried it and liked it I hope the same will be true for Me. I just thought it was the ideal answer for a Peep without D&T. Time will tell.

I put one on my Marlin 39 because I was having trouble with the receiver sight I had on it. I could hit rams at 100 sometimes, at others I had focus issues...

It's strange because the receiver sight on my chicom 870 is perfect for my needs out to normal gong ranges. It's a bigger hole and my eyes find it just right.

The bullseye seems to work well, but like all sights at this stage in my eyesight it is very dependent on the direction and quality of light. I have shot hundreds of rounds with it and it puts the little bullet where the bead is.

I think you could eliminate the outer ring and have the same results. I might try that some day. So far I like the sight and won't be going back to the notched blade.

They also make a short version, Perry. Would that work for those 94s?

And I'm the fellow who got the Browning 65 that Mod71Alaska was selling a few weeks ago. Nice enough open rear sight, but my eyeballs no longer allow me to see such things. So I put the Bullseye (long version) on and .... Wow! I can see sights and targets and such stuff reasonably well.

The Bullseye sets up noticeably higher than the issue open sight, so I had assumed I would be needing a taller front sight to keep from shooting high even at the lowest notch of the elevator. Nope -- I got to the range yesterday and am plumb to the top notch and still a bit low: I'll need a lower front sight to have any adjustment ability. Interesting -- I don't think you could have even come close to getting sighted in with that original open rear sight. The Bullseye is going to work out just fine on this rifle, and I can actually see the sight. Hot doggies!

Good reports by all, it's very encouraging to say the least.
Earl, one would have to be very short to work on One of My carbines. It has a King sight on it now and the elevator hits the receiver before it is all the way up. Now that I think about it I may not need the elevation as I have not fired the Gun.
Does anyone know if these sights are available, if they work I may need more.

I mounted one 'backwards' on a Ruger 77/44 for awhile, and it worked fine, due to that very factor. Went with a NECG peep later on.

Also, they make a non-adjustable one (windage by 'drift') that takes up no space except at the dovetail, but you'd have to use front-sight swaps or filing to fine-tune the sight-in.

The Rifle I'm planning this for has plenty of room to mount it. I can see where it would work turned around on My other Rifle. I'm thinking distance is the key to clarity but as I under stand it is supposed to be kinda ghosty. It is going to be a real tight fit in the dovetail. I tried to get it to slip in to no avail. When I have more time and I can get the barrel stable I will try again.

I've got one of those on a Henry Mini Bolt with a factory fire sight, works pretty good for training newbys and gets pretty good groups out to 50yds with CCI subsonic HPs.
