I've been thinking about a folding stock on a lever action or bolt action. I saw a home made one on a lever, but it was a bit more "rustic" than I'm wanting, it was a metal skeleton stock bolted to the cut off stub of the wood stock, not what I'm wanting. Years ago I saw a high quality job done on a bolt action, it was hard to tell it was a folder when it was extended, and had a clean latch and hinge setup. Thats more what I have in mind, but I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for one. Seeing one in detail, I may be able to copy it though.
I've thought about getting an Ace folder mechanism, but haven't seen one in person to know if I could adapt it to a lever action or bolt action stock and make it look good.
Years ago, I made a leather case that would accept the barreled action and had a separate sleeve for the butt stock, which had to be removed, but that's not quite what I want to do either.
So, anyone have pics or ideas of a good looking folder that would work on a Winchester 94 stock or a bolt action stock?

Probably one of the best of the folding bolt action stocks.
Robar's QR-2 works very well also, but I can't find a good pic.

Another from McMillan.
Simply due to the way leverguns work, I can't really see a folding stock working for it.
Thus why they invented takedown rifles in the 1880s.

Re: Folding stock question
You could keep this simple. Take a stock buttstock, cut it at the wrist just behind the tang. Install a pin in the stub and a corresponding hole in the butt with a hole for a cross-bolt to go in. If you make it snug fitting, it would allow for a quick take down... not as good as a true folder but would allow to break down for packing.

Re: Folding stock question
Thanks for the ideas guys!
The Robar may be what I saw in the past. It was an article in a gun magazine years ago about a high end accurate "tactical" type rifle (before the term became popular), the the folder was an option. It was very cleanly done, and other than the button to release it, wasnt obvious it was a folder at a casual glance.
