We run our chickens under the fruit trees in the summer and under the blackberry patch in the winter, surrounded by fence that keeps out coons possums dogs and cats - we don't lose many to hawks eagles or owls since they can pretty much stay under cover. Keeps the weeds and stuff down under the berries, too.
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws "first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

At least they don't consider themselves pets.
I tried that at first, but they worked their way into pets from stupid chickens . I don't raise any meat chickens, just hens for eggs. They like to come visit for treats, and will do some tricks, the kids taught them.

Might want to look at getting some Guinea Fowl. My Grandfather always refered to them a the policemen of the barnyard. Sure could raise a rucus. When something that didn't belong in their territory showed up. They didn't like animals or birds fighting or getting rowdy either. Their cries or calls are more like screams or screeches. Same as a Peacock. They are great eating as well, all dark juicy meat. Usually spend their time up in trees scanning their territory. Good Luck...................
What i`m worried about the most is my little weiner dog i mean

We have tried establishing guineas on our place twice with no success. My wife wanted then for tick control. What has succeeded is muscovy ducks. They have one advantage over chickens in that they don't scratch. they are easier on the garden. Quite comical to watch and we both get a kick out of them. They too are tasty. The hens are smallish but the drakes very good sized. They have more breast meat than regular ducks and are not so fat I greasy. My favorite way is smoked.
Oh. They don't wake us up early in the morning as they are crowless and quackless.
We would see flocks of 200 guinea fowl and more in Namibia. I would look at them and see fried chicken, etc., but the PH said he didn't care for the taste of them. My guess is the domesticated ones have better flavor in North America. I have heard they are the best possible watchdogs and they are absolutely death on snakes.
Good luck guarding your rabbits, Pitchy. An elderly neighbor, now gone, raised banties and always said he'd get life in prison if the feds ever knew how many chicken-killing hawks he had buried in the garden ...
