Ring the New Year with a Bang
Went down to the indoor range last night and a buddy and I rang in the New Year. Used a WW2 1911A1 with its worn out barrel and had some FUN!
It is no race gun, but I am happy with the outcome. One of my best evenings in a long long time. Target number 4 has the result of Ruger MkII below the bull.
Happy New Year everyone!

Re: Ring the New Year with a Bang
Didn't think about that. With all the fireworks going off around us, the neighbors probably wouldn't have been able to distinguish the sound coming from the small basement range I set up.
Then again, I'm pretty sure my wife would have been pretty upset with a house full of guest upstairs!!!

Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes.

Well, if it were me or my wife's family or most of our friends, they'd have gotten ANGRY . . . angry that we were sneaking away to shoot without them. . .RustyJr wrote:YK, I think I would have liked to see the guests reaction.

My long passed Uncles would have liked that! My Lee Enfield now has its accuracy standard.Grizzly Adams wrote:Looks like that old war horse still shoots MON (minute of Nazi.)
I once ownned a 45 Colt, Series 70, and it was a dandy. Shooting your piece of american history on New Year's Eve is quite special. I wouldn't be too quick to condemn that barrel!

I cannot complain too much about the barrel. It has pits and worn lands but with lead it does pretty well. With hardball, forget it. The bullets just spit out the barrel and go where ever they want. They are not tumbling but likely pretty close to it.
The load was 5.0gr of Universal Clays behind a 200gr Semi wadcutter. Target load.
Still a bad night of shooting is better than a good day at work.

And to think I put on a show with my flare gun (at my neighbors party)!
well out of flares, gotta buy more. I'll do my part to stimulate the economy of my local gun store...
