R.I.P. Harry Morgan

Post by Rusty »

Heard on the radio Harry Morgan passed away @ 96 today in his home.

He played a great town Marshal in The Shootist, Bill Gannon in Dragnet, and Col. Potter in M.A.S.H.

:( Man! m*a*s*h is my favorite show. I used to pedal as fast as i could when i was younger to see the show every week when i was out riding my bike. I am hard of hearing and missed a lot of the words, Now I have the complete set on dvd with closed caption and love it! I can " hear" what I missed when I was younger. Even when I know what they are saying next after watching so much, they still make me laugh. watch every chance I get. he was a good actor, and played his part very well. My condolences to his family.

Rabid Liberal Alda sort of ruined MASH with his agenda that he carried into the show, but I watched it nonetheless for the other excellent acting and themes. Morgan was timeless. IIRC, he was in Of Mice and Men and shot his brother, Lon Chany

I like Harry Morgan a lot as an actor. Heard he used to contribute extensively to anti 2A causes -- don't know if it was true.

Who cares what an actor's politics are?

I for one care what an actor's politics are and for that matter their general position on social issues. I prefer to give my "business" to more conservative folks when there is a choice. Unfortunately "Hollywood" is a leading edge of social changes. In a perfect world entertainers would be apolitical. I quit following MASH when the overt liberal social agenda became obvious.
Harry Morgan had a good run. RIP.

Sounds like some expectations are a little unreal. Mash the book was liberal anti-war. The movie was liberal anti-war. Hard to expect the series to be anything other than liberal antiwar.

As far as Mr. Morgan, I liked how he represented the characters he played.
