Bear season tomorrow(didn't go so good)

Post by 2ndovc »

Opening day was today but had too much going on.
No hunting on Sunday.

Don't really care if I get one or not. Just looking forward to
for a few days in the woods and away from the daily BS.

Jeep's all loaded up and only thing that's missing is my old dog and my rifles.

see you Boys in a few days!

Went out for deer hunt this morning, kicked 3 deer up but were gone in three jumps into the brush...later on the walk back home I came across 3 bear, 2 yearlings and the sow. And they were kind of hiding behind a big basswood tree... and didn't see them till I was about 20 feet away when I realized the black old stump moved...Then I saw the yearlings noses , ears and eyes pearing around each side of the tree. So I walked farther away and circled around and they kept hiding behind the tree whilest old ma sat on the ground. Then I stopped and she stood up against the tree and than sat back down and yawned. Scoped old ma out 3 times with my Savage99E 243, (had to mention levergun here), would have been easy shooting but no tag and they looked peaceable at the moment. LOL
Then I left... I was going back to take some pics but it started snowing... so I hid in the house.
Hope you have a good time and success. SnR

Well poor Mike (rjohns94) got hurt just before heading out and couldn't make it.

Had a good long hike, stop and listen Monday morning, about five miles. Pretty good for this fat man. I was heading out again later when my dear old boxer mix Abbey started getting really sick.
she made it through the night and got her home this evening. Going to the vet in the AM but
she's going to be 15 in a couple months. May be time to let her go. Going to be a rough few days.

So you guys that are into the Prayer thing say a few words for our friend Mike
for a speedy recovery!

Thanks guys!

She's doing better today. Vet thinks is a severe inner ear infection. She's had them before
but never so intense. Got her on some antibiotics and hoping for the best. Crazy how quickly
it came on. Saturday she gave a fair chase to a squirrel that dared be in the back yard and by Tuesday
morning she could hardly walk.

Got my fingers crossed!
