I have a Marlin Levermatic.
The post office cracked the stock at the forend alongside the barrel channel.
Looks like it could be repaired by injecting a bit of adhesive and clamping.
Crack in about 4 inches and isn't showing any space and it's not contaminated.
The rifle is a shooter, not a collectable, so an inexpensive repair is desired.
Can someone recommend a repair person that will do a good job at a reasonable price.
I don't believe it will need refinishing, just the crack spread a bit and the adhesive injected and then clamped.

Redneck DIY repair: Mix up a little bit of all-purpose epoxy and inject it yourself... wipe any excess off as you squeeze the crack shut, wrap in duct tape and let sit overnight. In the morning, remove duct tape, then with damp cloth wipe off any tape reside, and check that any additional epoxy didn't squeeze out, if it did, trim with pocket knife.
It does actually work on occasion...
Remember these three rules: If it's supposed to move and doesn't, use WD-40, if it moves and it shouldn't, wrap it in duct tape, if those two don't do the trick, trash it!

Re: Need Someone For Simple Stock Repair
Bob,
I haven't had the greatest results with epoxy and cracks. What has worked for me is really thin super glue. Spread the crack inject the super glue, clamp it shut. When cured, I let it sit over night at the least, you might have to remove some that extruded from the crack but that's easy.
I had a Rossi stock that was cracked lengthwise at the tangs. The first gunsmith that worked on it epoxied it and that didn't hold. I used the super glue as above and it held great.
You can do it yourself too.
Joe

FWIW, wax the barrel channel & the outside of the stock around the crack, BEFORE getting anywhere near it with an adhesive, and the excess will be able to be shaved right off (with careful paring).
I usually remove the buttplate, to drill a small hole there, for some like sawdust to mix in with the adhesive - it makes the repair less visible at a glance.

"Ya know Griff, I would not call that "rednecking" a split. Its about the only way you can do it and I have been doing that for 40 years----well, maybe 20---well, about 15

Joe's right. Super glue from the RC flying model hobby shop's is the way to go. But, take it off the gun. I have used it for cracks like this and most come out completely invisible. If it's a clean break and not a high gloss finish you will have to look hard to find it.
P.S. for clamping surgical tubing is hard to beat.
