Well I got off my duff and got some pictures of my Christmas present from my adorable wife. It's a Uberti/Cimarron 1873 w/24" bbl. in 38-40. Got it cleaned up and now need to get to the range. I'll give a range report when I do. Now for the pics. The CCH shows up better in the pics than in real life. The blues are fairly subtle, wish it was a rainbow of colors. Fairly decent wood for a standard model.
It don't get any better than a 73 in 38-40. Enjoy.

That's a sweet looking 73. You going to hunt with it or just shoot rocks?
I had an 1873 Winchester many many summers ago. It was a 32 WCF full octagon barreled gun that was probably a rifle originally. It had been cut to 16" or so before I got it. Worked OK, but I didn't keep it.
Should have, but I was young and stupid(er) way back then.
I really think my next desire is one of the Uberti 1873s.

Law Dawg,
She's a beauty! Uberti sure has come a long way. The CCH looks real nice along with excellent wood to metal fit. You have a fine wife there. ------------Sixgun

Thanks guys. Can't wait to put some rounds down the tube. As said, fit and finish is great. I tried to disassemble it for cleaning, as is my norm, before shooting and one of the lever spring screws won't come out. I haven't tried any heat or anything else. Just couldn't get it out without getting rough with it. Actually was afraid I'd bust the head off. ????? Anyway, have the next few days off and I'm planning on getting to the range. As said, will report.
Very Nice,I had one in .45colt. it was flawless and sold it before I beat it up.it was heavy, and I wish Uberti would make the '73 with a round barrel. Good luck and can't wait for the range report. .

The lever spring screws are under a lot of torque. The easiest way to get a tight one out is to remove the side plates, and rotate/swing the spring(s) out to the side (off of the lever cam or the carrier arm) which will release most of the pressure. Should come right out.

Very Nice,if the cch is a little more subtle off camera it would be fine with Me.
Is there somewhere to find Uberti Manuf. dates. Looked at a Beautiful Stainless 73 tonite on my way Home. Should of come on Home.

Look on your Uberti and find the little rectangle with two letters in it. That is the date code. Go here to find the date code chart: https://store.bluebookinc.com/Info/PDF/ ... fmarks.pdf
The article refers to black powder guns, but the date code is on the smokeless cartridge guns as well.
Now THAT is a beautiful little rifle ..... and in an excellent caliber as well.

Gobbler, I never had a 38-40 before so I don't have the dies, brass or bullets, yet. I do plan on reloading as trying to find manufactured ammo is tough and expensive. Components are easy to find thanks to CAS.
