OT Prayer request-update-update

Post by firefuzz »

Friends, I ask you to join with me in prayers for the wife of a dear friend of mine, her name is Joyce and she's the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet. Very much a second mother to me. She's traveling to day to M.D. Anderson clinic for test to see why her white blood cell count is out of control.

Thoughout her life this lady has been married to and supported one retired career LEO as a husband, one of my mentors, raised a son who is following that path and several other "sons and daughter" that are LEO's. Takes a very special lady to do that.

Thanks,

Rob

Well the news isn't good. As it was told to me Joyce has "acute, advanced lukemia. Regular chemo gives her a less than 20% chance of remission but there's an experimental, tho approved, treatment that raises that to 50% or better....but the treatment's are $150,000 each and most insurances won't cover it...we're waiting to see on that.

You fella's in Oklahoma keep your eyes peeled for some fund-raiser shoots in the Shawnee area. If it's ok I'll post the info here.

Please keep up the prayers folks, the Doc's don't have the final say in this.

Thanks,

Rob

Just thought I'd update everyone on Joyce's condition. She's undergoing the first series of the experimental chemo at M.D. Anderson as I write this. So far she's shown no real adverse reactions to it.

The family and I would appreciate your continued prayers.

Just had a brother LEO with our department go through eight weeks of explosive chemo on his Leukemia. He's going through arsenic treatments right now. There are no signs of the cancer at the moment and his cell counts are leveling out. Plus, my wife lost her father ten years ago to Leukemia. So we're no strangers to that disease. Prayers for her recovery. She'll feel like dirt for a while, but they've come a long way in treating that disease.
