If your smart enough to carry a big bore....

Post by horsesoldier03 »

Dont be dumb enough to shoot yourself with it.

I found this on another site that I frequent. Looks to me like that might hurt a bit.

I guess at least the guy owned up to his mistake so I doubt it will happen again!

The firearms safety rules towards the bottom of the page in the link are words to live by for sure.
If you can see the big picture, you are not focusing on your front sight.

When my youngest (at the time age 12) told me he had a really big booboo - it was. But his several holes from a dog attack, even the great tooth pattern deeply bedded in his leg, wasn't anywhere near as bad looking as that!
Great, but scary report. Even AD's (or, "stupid shots" - which I once made) with nobody injured are serious issues.

It can happen with a wheel gun too. I met a guy 25 years ago who had managed to shoot a .44 Mag down his calf and had it exit through his heel.

It left a mark!

Yup, I know a guy who walks with a painful limp because his fast draw technique with the 44 mag was a little off, timing wise.

I'd say the guy who shot his legs got off lucky..,

I know a guy who managed to let his .44 mag OM Super Blackhawk go off in a hip holster. The exact circumstances are still a mystery.

It blew a beer can sized hole thru his calf, destroyed the nerves in his lower leg but lucky missed the bones.

He can walk fairly normally now, after several years.

We had a fellow at church who was messing with a Luger when it went off. the full patch bullet went through the flesh above the back side of his knee and all the way through a heavy oak chair he was sitting in at the time. On the way to the hospital he made his wife stop by the church so he could hand in a check for his unpaid tithes.
