Ok we were shooting my Rossi today and shot a .38 and just heard a pop. Sounded funny so I opened the action and ejected the empty and looked in the barrel and there was the bullet almost at the end of the barrel.
Would that barrel have blown if I had shot another round after that ??
The bullet just came out with a push of the cleaning rod and I assume there was no powder in the shell (reloads)
Bullet stuck in Rossi 357 barrell ?

Yep, it would have ruined your barrel, possibly your receiver, and certainly your day.cvcman wrote:Ok we were shooting my Rossi today and shot a .38 and just heard a pop. One reason I hate shooting with a range full of other folks - I want to hear confirmation that my gun sounded normal.

I quit loading "light" target rounds years ago for that very reason. If a load squibs I can definately tell the difference in the recoil. My "tame" load to practice with a .357 is almost loaded to .38+P.AJMD429 wrote:One reason I hate shooting with a range full of other folks - I want to hear confirmation that my gun sounded normal.
Glad you noticed the difference and stopped, the least you would have gotten was a ringed barrel, much worse if you had followed it with a heavy load.

What Steve said......
Re: Bullet stuck in Rossi 357 barrell ?
If you would have fired a round behind the stuck bullet it would most certainly caused a ringed or bulge in the barrel. Wouldn't have blown up anything but would probably be a pain to get fixed.Good Luck..

If the stuck bullet was out close to the muzzle I tend to agree. The 92 action is strong enough to handle way more than standard loading in 357m, and the pressure has begun to dropped quite a bit by the time the follow up bullet gets to the struck bullet. But, you will definately get a walnut in your barrel.

I agree with Nate, however, if the bullet was just down the barrel from the chamber ..................... well, let's just say it could have been messy.
