I was trying for Red...

Post by DerekR »

but it came out kinda pink! My first stab at homemade pan lube. Beeswax, vasaline and a little parafin. I put a little carnuba in and a red crayon for color. Oh well.....
Those are bullets cast from the RCBS .30 180FN, by the way, destined for my 30/30 leverguns.

Once it's loaded though ... no one will know. Of course, you will have to live with the knowledge that your reloads are wearing the equivalent of pink panties under their man jeans.

I use a 50/50 mix of bee's wax & ATF (Dextron) for a nice red color and excellent lube quality.

Ji, how is long term storage of loaded ammo with this lube? I'm a bit leary of ATF for bullet lube due to concerns of lube migration and powder contamination. But that's just me and my suspicious self. I've had problems with powder contamination in the past from improper lube. Have you stored any ammo loaded with that lube for a length of time? If so, is it all sure fire?

Thanks!
