a little ot-family heirloom-thanks jdad

Post by pokey »

an old .22, that's all it is.
owned by my wife's great grandparents, so the story goes.
when my FIL pulled it out from the back of a closet, it was tightly wrapped
in a plastic bag and taped up. when i unwrapped it, what a heartbreaker, red
with rust, broken firing pin, and parts removed[more broken than i first knew].
well that was several years ago. with jdad's help i found dick williams gun parts,
they had the second to last part i needed,[i thought it was the last until i got her put back
together, surprise.] i ordered a firing pin tuesday and had it by friday, nice.
so she is finally back together, and i test fired her this morning. she works OK.
so this is as close to a family heirloom as we are going to get.

so anyone else have something that has come down through their family?

Pokey,

You did good by that old shooter. I'd be proud of my work had I accomplished what you have.

Sadly though I have none of my family's guns. There was one I was supposed to have that I wanted desperately, but my Grand mom changed her mind at the last minute and gave it to my idiot cousin. Oh well.

Neat..! Is that a Savage? I think they made one like that with a clip instead of the tubular magazine, that's the one I'm looking for. Let us know how it shoots.

That looks pretty nice! Is the top tang d&t'd for a tang sight? If yes, is the ctc spacing 1.125"? I'm selling my sight collection, at the big August show, and I may have something to fit.

no i don't believe it is. there is a cocking indicator, that sticks up where the tang sight would go.

yup, savage 25, manufactered twixt 1925 and '29.
i don't plan on shooting this one to much, cuz i can't replace it.
i have several others for that duty,
but i hate having something that doesn't work.
i like bringing back old things from the brink, too.
