Can you do 360 DW chamber with 357 max reamer?

Post by L8agin »

Have all the stuff as per Tycer to load the 360 DW to shoot in the win 94 357. Just haven't gotten around to it and view the brass turning triming as a bit of a hassel. My question is could careful use of the 357 max reamer going only deep enough for the 360 work? It should take care of the case length trial and error. But what about the throat tapper? don't want to go to 357 max depth as has been hashed over before. Just want a simple 360 DW shooter, that still would shoot 357 mag accuratly.
All experience and opinions solicited-Thanks

Works a treat. Just be careful and test often with the round you plan on using. Of my four, one is reamed to Max

It's actually fine with 357 ammo for accuracy. Groups did open up at 100+, but less than 3/4". Still easily pie plate at 125. No difference with the 360 loads.

I can load Max single shot with regular length or 360 in the tube. The spent brass ejects fine as does a loaded round.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Tycer thanks
Tentative plan is to buy a max reamer and trim down a max case as a go gauge. Fuqured to use another max case in the standard 357 chamber keeping on triming till i could see how much distance was allowed beyond standard 357 case length to insure crimp release. Have a H&R 357 barrel for easy measurement. Then add that to the dan wesson case length for it's crimp release and make a 360 go gauge.
Was going to start on a win 94, but maybe should do the H&R for experience??? Can always go the rest of the way to 357 max on the H&R single as that sounds like a popular rechambering.
Have the extra crtridge guides for the 94-just haven't been confident enough to start having to thin the end of the 360 case.
