OT-Grocery shopping not too bad!

Post by dennie »

GF asked if I wanted to go grocery shopping today. Uh well, well maybe, we'll see, the usual answer she gets. I love to grocery shop don't ya know.
Well, we went to the local Meijer's store here in town. While she shopped for grub I went another direction. I looked for sales in the sporting goods, auto, video, and just goofed around a little. Went and looked up the GF to see how she was doing and she gave me a coupon for toothpaste. The toothpaste is on the very opposite end of the store, where I was before, of course.
Well, on the way I decided to see if they had any new Dale Jr. attire. No luck there, but next to the men's clothing section was a markdown shelf. On the shelf was 3 boxes of Remington UMC .45ACP 230gr MC, marked down from $16.99 to $10.19. Grabbed 'em up. Next to these was a brick of Peters .22LR marked down from $13.90 to $6.95. Grabbed them too!
I do not own anything that shoots .223, but they had 40 round boxes of Winchester JHP for $6 and change. I almost bought some of these, even tho I have no use for them!
See, grocery shopping is not too bad! :D
BTW, tried the .45's in my Kimber Pro Carry HD II, and it wants to eat the center out of the target! When do we need groceries again?

Your girlfriend may just figure she can't afford to let you come with her anymore!!! She probably had a list made out to fit the budget, now look what happened!!. Good on you though. Gotta get those priorities in there.

I miss the ol' Meijer "thrifty acres" (or, as we called them, in jest, "shifty acres"). We had one in the town I lived in while in Michigan, and my wife and I would go there every Friday night to do our weekly grocery shopping (hey, it was a small town, and there wasn't much to do!). I'd wander through sporting goods and the hardware section looking for deals all the time!!! 8)

I remember several years ago when they sold long guns. They would also put out a neat little magazine on hunting and fishing sometime in the fall. Sorry to say, but all that is gone now.
I stopped today on the way home from work to see if I could find more bargains. Other than several boxes of deer slugs and a coup[le boxes of .308 and .30-06 they were out.
TedH, she made a roast one time that would rival eating brass! I think I still have some beef splinters in the roof of my mouth. :D

Grocery shopping is what women do. I BUY groceries. The difference for any pansies out there is that when you shop you look at everything in the store 2 or 3 times, compare prices, think about meals to come, remember meals with family, take things off the shelf and put them back and spend 2-4 hours doing it. Buying is walking in with a list, mental or written, getting those things and getting the heck out of there in less than 15 minutes. 5 minutes talking to the cute cashier you went to HS with is permissable if nobody else is there. If there was a way my wife had grabbed me in such a way to get me in there (and it does happen, now and then) and they had gun stuff I could have stayed gone for at least the 2 hours she was shopping.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Sure wish I could get them to put a Rod and Gun Club in the Commisary! Its not too bad though, on occasion I will stop at a gun store and the wife is willing to sit in the car and read a book while waiting on me. WHo knows one day she may even go into the store with me!
