I got that bought reasonable enough, after I mount the bolt peep the big question is will I put it on my table at the next gun show.

Why don't you use it to put some meat on the table instead?

The 98A appears to be incomplete and parts are very expensive and difficult to find. Overall, though, the rifle was a fair buy.

Sight Problem Validated.
I reverse engineered the 98A sight a short while back, and have helped a number of folks by making replacement or repair parts. Just a hobby thing, not a business.
Here is what I see with that model 71 rifle sight:
a] The back end of the sight base has been broken off. It should have a piece that has half of a dovetail.
b] The Windage Piece is missing. It is the part that holds the Aperture.
c] The special screw and nut that hold the Windage Piece on the sight base is missing.
d] The Aperture Piece is missing.
e & f] The Elevation Stop screw and the Elevation Spring screw may be missing.
g] The cross pin appears to have been "mangled.
h] The front sight looks like an after market replacement.
There may be more problems, but I can't tell from the limited pictures.

That's seems like a pretty good price with or without the extra sight pieces. Always good to add another M71 to the family.
