OT--Mean Bear gun. Mean, period!

Post by getitdone1 »

Been looking at a lot of gun sites.

Was at the Holland & Holland site and came across this dandy SxS double rifle chambered for the .577 NE (shorthand for Nitro Express)

Somehow with engraving, fancy wood and a lot of guts they put a price of 239,000 dollars on that gun.

Not for the millionaires but multi-millionaires and billionaires.

Anyway. It's at the Holland & Holland site if you're in the market for the ultimate "bear gun." Suppose if it's good enough for elephants it oughta be good enough for really big bears.

Don,
I don't even have the intestinal fortitude to look at their site! The flesh is weak.

Not to mention that it prolly costs only about $100/shot, to pop off factory ammo in it.

Well...I don't think I'll be the owner of that rifle anytime soon....maybe in ten thousand yrs. But, not right now.

How much did they charge to look at it ? :D I guess some may get satifaction on that type of rifle but I am a workin man! I enjoy getting good deals and great shooters with plain looks, definately more in the utility rifle catagory.

Cabelas in Sydney had a pair of Kieghoff doubles a few years ago, one in 470 NE, and one in 500 NE, They were priced at about 10K, much more affordable than the H&H gun. I guess if a guy won the lottery, one of those doubles might be realistic as a bear gun. Ammo was pretty pricey tho, about $200/box of 20.

They sure were beautifully made guns, and handled well.

I also noticed on the H&H sight they list a PARADOX gun. there is a company here in Florida dixieslugs.com that offers loadings in 12 ga to get close to the old English Paradox loads.

And you can have that in an H&R instead of an H&H.

Maybe when my rich uncle gets out of the poor house, or when I win the lottery.
