I FINALLY did the stock on my full magazine, pistol grip, crescent butt, 1886 EL. Not bad, but it seems a little too long for me, so it might end up being cut and a recoil pad added. For now, I'm gonna leave it be, though. When I feel up to it I'll run some ammo through it and see how it feels.
Sorry about the shadows, but there's no place to get a good photo around here. Too much warm sun.

I dunno looks kind of spotty to Me .must be the warm light on it. send it to Ohio, it's in the '20's right now and snowing. we will see if it can stand some cool weather. I wouldn't want it to jam if it got below 60 ....Jim.

Great job!
I won't cut the barrel, Scott. At 22" it is perfect. The buttstock is what feels too long.

Hmmm. I hope the rest of the country doesn't end up thinking it's always 70 degrees here, with bikini clad young women runing all around..
That rifle does look real good though, congrats. I like that stock.

John, it's an overpriced factory stock that was ordered from Midway USA and made for the 1886 TD rifles that are available now. It took a small amount of
hand work to fit, but not too bad. I wish that some maker would produce a shotgun type PG buttstock for the Mirokus. All of my searching drew a blank in that direction. I tried original 86 and 71 stocks but they weren't even close.

Gorgeous rifle! Full mag, pistol grip, crescent butt .... beautiful. Does the length of the buttstock feel better if you place the crescent butt on your upper arm, just at the top of the bicep?
I put the Lyman back on the gun and it is as complete as it's gonna get for a while.
Kirk, the stock is still too long for my short little arms. I'll get it worked out, though. Funny that my original crescent stocked 1886s fit me just fine.

Is it possible the pistol grip forces you put your stronghand just a little farther forward on the stock? BTW, I didn't say so earlier, but... that is ONE, VERY PRETTY rifle.

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
Thanks, Griff. Yes, it does make me hold a little farther forward so my cheek will not lay on the stock like normal. Could be a bruiser under recoil, but that can be worked out. It's just something to get used to.

Thanks, y'all. I probably have enough "invested" in this one to have bought another at today's asking prices.
