Rejoined the ranks of the

Post by cwo4uscgret »

Lever Action Squad yesterday...

I used to have 2 Marlin 336s - one in .30-30 and the other .45-70. I sold both of them several years ago and have missed the .45-70. In keeping with my not buying, but trading guns for guns, today I traded into a brand new Henry Bigboy, in .44 Magnum. I also have a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum as well. Here's a few photos of the new rifle; it has a 20" barrel:

Very nice combination.

The local deer population should be suitably worried. :)

Welcome to our little group. :D
That's a great combo.

I've only handled a Henry Big Boy with the longer barrel. I like the looks of that one better.
By all means give us a range report when you can.

I'm the fly in the ointment around here---Those guns look TOO nice. You need to dirty 'em up some and send some lead down their throats. :D ------------------Sixgun

The holster and belt are made by a very good friend of mine, Sandy Morrissey of Georgia. Sandy was a WWII Enlisted Naval Aviator; a courier pilot, at some small non-descript Navy Airfield in Arkansas he had to be cut out of the airframe with what would be then called the jaws of life. He didn't walk away from that landing. For his physical therapy the doctor recommended he work with leather. A wise decision. Sandy, now 86 or 87, has been tooling leather for 60+ years. He has also been a motorcycle cop among other things. He calls the holster his T Pattern; the gun belt is actually part of my Blackhawk .357 rig; that I had done ala Paladin Style with my Coast Guard Officer's cap device (the Eagle) put on the holster. I could also do that with a Chief Petty Officer's anchor as well:

Sandy tooled the belt leather to look like elephant hide; the belt has 24 loops as well.

Here's all 4 holsters I have by Sandy; the tan ones are available; I didn't join leverguns just to pander things but since we're talking about holsters...

It may be a while before I get to the range; I am between knee surgeries; on January 8th I had my right knee replaced and on Friday the 26th I'll have the left knee replaced. Its hard to shoot a long gun when walking with a walker...

Very nice combo.
