OT, TV Show

Post by mikld »

I was watching NCIS last night. The good guys, Jethro, DeNozo, and the local sheriff, oh yeah, and a pretty woman, are fired on from a helicoptor. Sheriff gets hit, everybody else takes cover, except Jethro who goes back to the sheriff who tells him "...take my Henry, it pulls to the right". Well, Jethro goes back to sheriff's horse and pulls out his "Henry", flips up the receiver sight, fiddles with it for a few seconds and proceeds to shoot the helicopter pilot, in mid-flight, DRT, all while under fire from a sub-gun. I wish I could shoot like the Hollywood good guys; pick up a strange to me weapon, fiddle with the sights, and hit dead on what I was looking at, first shot! From what I remember, it did look like an 1860 Henry, but could be wrong.

Hey, Broderick Crawford used to hit bad guys from 200 yards with a snapshot from the hip with his .38 snubbie while waddling from his patrol car to the roadside ditch after being fired at. (Why he bothered to stop the car and get out was always a mystery to me.) A shot like that makes Jethro look like a piker.

It was talked about the last time it was on.
He called it a Henry, but pretty sure it was a 1876 replica. :D

Pretty sure it was a Uberti 1873 or 76 in 45 caliber

Has a fore end and loading gate so it isnt a Henry

Bore looked to be 45 caliber

Almost scared to say it but after watching this episode I put a Marbles tang sight on my 1895 in 45-70

It's real.

Lot of poor shots on this forum , Pokey. You, Jethro, & I can each shoot like that any day in a light wind.
