So far, after I pulled the issue barrel and bought a take-off stainless Ruger 77/22Mag barrel as a donor online, I've managed (along with "doing" the Holidays and hunting all Fall) to get the shortened (17 1/2") and turned-down donor barrel installed in the frame.
I have the skeleton folding stock components bent to shape, ready for heli-arcing together and attachment to the gripframe - I'm going to first shorten the barrel tenon & fit the cylinder/gap to get it back firing again, first.
I'm still undecided about the sighting - whether or not to dovetail the front of the barrel (where I left it a tad thicker than the barrel itself) for a front sight and install an XS peep stem or Skinner LoPro peep in the cyl frame top strap - or - to mount a very miniature red dot sight I found (about the size of a LaserLyte), on the rear of the barrel.
I'm leaning toward the iron sights, though.
Decisions/decisions - that's where a LOT of the enjoyment comes from, in doing one of these conversions.
Oh, well - no wine, before it's time.
Here's a few pics (keep in mind, it's still a "work in progress")
