Lousy photos but it's 10 degrees out this morning!
I was able to spring the Marlin 1970 Centennial .35R from it's keepers at Gander Mtn.
yesterday.
I don't think it's hardly been fired. Action is stiff like it just came out of the box and
there's not a trace of anything in the bore or action.
Can't wait to go shootin'!!

Very nice gun! Looks like an early 80s version and their bluing and finish is much nicer than the new ones. I can see from across the room the difference in my 1980s, .375, .356, and .444 compared to a new one. Looks like you got a gem. Good luck with it.

It looks to be in pretty nice condition, for sure.
BTW - You DO know it's not a "Centennial Model" per se, don't you ?
It was made no differently than every other Marlin made in 1970 - they ALL had the stock medallion, that denoted the celebration of Marlin's Centennial from 1870-1970, even the .22 auto's etc.
Sorta like when Winchester stamped the receivers of every Model 94 made in 1994 with "1894-1994".

A 1970 Marlin 336's SN should be: 70xxxxx(whatever digits).

I gotcha! didn't know that.
Either way I couldn't pass up a 35 rem for $300.

Nice looking Marlin. I have a 1969 Marlin in a 35 Rem. It is my goto rifle for deer hunting here in Wisconsin. Again...very nice.

Outstanding; there's nothing like a real good deal on something you really want

Nice rifle!! If you subtract the first two numbers of the S.N. from 100 you will have the year of Mfg.
1970 rifle S.N. would start with 30XXXXX.
