Got books for Christmas

Post by Goat »

I only asked for one thing for Christmas this year and my wonderful wife of 18 years was listening. I got Brophy's "Marlin Firearms" A History of the Guns and the Company that made them. It looks like I will have many hours of fun ahead of me with this edition. I spent Christmas Eve with my family and today after opening gifts with my 4 and 5 year old we went to my wife's mother's home. It has been a great Holiday!

Santa didn't bring me Brophy's Marlin book but looks like I will be ordering it soon. Let us know how you like it as it got all positive reviews on Amazon.com except for 1 reviewer who really panned it.

I have Brophy's book on Marlins. Great help to me. The reviewer who panned it must not have had the same book I have...
Publisher price of $89 is absurd. It's not worth half of the $56 price offered by many. Be aware this book is all in black & white only with loads of poor quality illustrations, engineer drawings, obsolete parts exploded views & obscure information. A very un-pretty large volume in comparison to similar excellent, full-color & beautiful histories done for Colt, Winchester, Remington, Smith & Wesson, & Ruger. I own all of these & this Marlin History is the shoddiest & worst quality of them all, at one of the highest prices. Make sure you can return it if you buy it and are as disappointed & disgusted as I was.
Sincerely,

Hobie
