Reminds me of a story about my great-grandfather when he was pulled over by a state trooper for speeding.

Story goes something like this:

"Officer, can I get a ticket for calling you a ***?"
Trooper: Yes sir, you can.
"Can I get a ticket for thinking it?"
Trooper: No sir.
"Well then, that's what I think."

A horse mounted State Trooper on the freeway would be a traffic hazard all by itself. Drivers would be so distracted looking at him they'd crash.

I think it's funny.

Joe, your right. My friend's dad crashed the family car because he was watching a young cute thing walk down the sidewalk. He had one heck of a time trying to explain to the wife how he banged up the car.

Oh gosh! I ran over a guy in Gatlinburg Tennessee because I was looking at a babe on the side walk!

While the pic may have been staged just for a laugh, it may be real. The officer/trooper is not on the freeway itself, but the in the grass by the feeder road. It is not unusual for the guy working the laser or radar unit to read the speed, and use a radio to notify a fellow officer farther along. Both have to come to court to make the case stick. The bulk of the device makes me wonder, though, as it does not look like a laser unit; more like an older radar unit, and most of those I have seen need an external power source.
