Got back from my week away chasing whitetail deer and this book was waiting for me, a late birthday present from my dear wife
It promises to be a great read

Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile gnawing through the leather straps to get up in the morning..................
The Book of the 44 is probably John Taffin's best book. It is an excellent read, as are of Mr. Taffin's work, and a wealth of information. Enjoy a classic.
Unfortunately someone decided it should be published in BLACK AND WHITE and SOFT COVER. Mr. Taffin was...and is..upset with the publisher's decision. The book sold at the usual price of $40 and someone's profit margin went up a couple of dollars. Since there are another book (or two) plus manuscripts awaiting publishing, I don't think this debacle will be repeated. I buy TWO autographed copies of the books...one for the book case and another for reference. I'd pay another $5 each to have them in HARDBOUND and COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
I agree. Color pictures would have made this book much more desireable. Even a center section of say 6 to 8 pages of color pictures would have helped. Still, the book is pretty informative. Worth a look at least for those that haven't seen it or don't have it.

I just recently picked up a copy off of Amazon for $10 (new, paperback, B&W pics). Would love to have had it in color. Have not read it yet, but looks like good info.
