OT - but interesting for gun nuts.
In 2010 Gun Digest Annual, pages 276-277, there is an article on the Valmet 412 Shooting System that was marketed in the US from 1980-1989 when importation was taken over by Tikka. This featured several over under double shotgun, rifle, and combo barrel sets and one receiver/butt stock component.
One of the very interesting aspects of the system was the method used to regulate the rifle barrels of the double rifles. This involved two separate adjustments - one for verticle regulation and another for horizontal regulation and the author says that it worked well. To me, the Valmet method appears to be simple and effective and one that Baikal should consider for their entry level double rifles. It would also make regulation practical for different loads and different weight bullets.

Re: OT - For double gun fans
Ahh, memories!
In the '70's, Savage contracted with Valmet to manufacture a combination gun called the Model 2400.
It was available in 308Win/12 gg or .223/12gg. I hunted with my .308 version for about 10 yrs. Very handy. Balanced well and YES, the barrel regulation was a POC (that's Cake)
Thanks for the memories.

Making barrel regulation too easy cuts into my annual income

Re: OT - For double gun fans
Joe,
On the other hand, if a gunmaker could make decent doubles at a reasonable price using a Piece of Cake regulation that worked, could he sell more guns while doing less work?
Just a thought.
