Lil' Huntress' Scimitar Hunt

Post by huntress »

Thank you to everyone who made this hunt for Lindsay possible. She said that she will post her story later this week. She has a project due for school and she couldn't work on it this weekend so that is now her priority. Once she gets it finished she will tell you all about her weekend. I wanted to say thank you to you and let you know what an amazing weekend it was for her. I thought hunitng on a fenced in ranch was pretty easy. After this weekend, I will never think that again. This hunt was a challenge for Lindsay. To her credit, she took the challenge head on and didn't give up. She hunted for 12 hours on saturday. We saw the scimitar a few times, but never for more than a second or two. They seemed to vaporize! There one minute... gone the next. Due to all of the rain, the growth in the area was real thick. It created a lot of hiding places for all of the animals. When we did see our target, they were running at full speed. They were spooked all weekend and never seemed to slow down. Rich estimated that they were running at around 30 miles an hour! We tried everythign we could to flush them out so she could get her shot. But everytime the scimitar won. After 12 hours we went to dinner. Lindsay was exhausted and fell asleep before her head hit the pillow. On sunday she was up bright and early ready to go. The previous day did not deter her at all. She was pumped up and ready to get her trophy! After 6 hours with no progress, she finally asked what her options were. Rich named a few animals with a fallow deer being one of them. Her eyes lit up. After the scimitar the fallow deer was next on her "hit " list. So we set off to find a fallow. I was nervous because we saw them all day saturday, and hadn't seen them once on sunday. After a little bit there he was! Before Rich could finish his sentence Lindsay took her shot. She only needed one and down it went. According to Rich it wa sa perfect shot. Lindsay was thrilled. I asked her if she wa sdisappointed about the scimitar and her response was "not really". She said that she knew she tried her best and she was happy with her efforts. The fallow deer made her so happy, but the experience of hunting all weekend was just the best! So I thank you all fromt he bottom of my heart. Not just for the hunt but for the experience. She has done nothing but talk about her weekend and she has some amazing memories. None of that would have been possible without you guys! Thank You!

Excellent! Congratulations to Lindsay. Look forward to her story of the hunting.

I was glad to do my very small part, but a big thanks goes to Mike and Joe for being the ones to make it happen.

Lindsay - I admire your determination! A lot of adults would have gotten frustrated very quickly. Your marksmanship skills are remarkable. That is the second time a guide told me you left an impression on them and made a perfect shot. I look forward to your story!

Ms. Lindsay -

When you get your own rifle, have your Mom give me a call and tell me about it. I'd like to give you a short supply of custom made ammunition so you can keep up the good work!
