1951 336 SC .32 Spec.

Post by 1886 »

I took this out of the safe for a little prevenative maintenance( light oiling). Thought I might share it with you. 1951 336 SC .32 spec. ser# H50xxx. Wood is close to 100% with all of it's original finish and just a few handling marks. Note the fat belly on the forearm and large palm swells on the wrist of the butt. The metal is excellent with just a few minor former surface rust spots. These spots are very minor and are only present on the sides of the receiver so are probably from carry moisture. Carry wear on the belly of the receiver is almost non existant. 20" Barrel is not micro groove and is pristine. Rifle is factory drilled and tapped for receiver site. No buggered screws. Did these rifles come with a front sight hood? The front ramp has the groove in the side for what I assume to be a hood but I do not know definatively as the hood is not present. I have not seen many of these and none in .32 Spec. I have to put it back now. Also I have never fired this rifle. Thanks for looking. 1886.

Very nice rifle! Yes it came with a hood. The older ones were round not the oval wide view hoods of today.
I bet it is a great shooter. I have SC`s in that condition in .30-30 and .35Rem. I will find a .32 sp.some day.

I like that! I've got to find a nice, used Marlin in 32 Special
for the right price. It's a great cartridge.

Since it has a coupla tiny rust spots, why not go out and shoot
the dang thing? I'll bet you'd have a ball. :)

You made me go and look
Dads " foul weather " rifle is the same, SC in .35 rem. H44xxx
It does have the groove for a hood. And a Lyman receiver sight.
Great shooter.

That was my brother's first and last deer rifle. Dad got it for him when he was about 11 or 12 ... he is now 56. It had taken a ton of deer and looks like he beat one to death with it but it still works perfectly.
