I was a Photog for the OU School Newspaper ('86/'87)... and covered a season of Switzer/Bosworth... and the Athletic Dorm shootings... and a few other interesting bits.

I really have no love for Sooner Football...

Now that's Good one!

I live in WV and my wife and I are big football fans and we love WVU. When they beat OU the other night I have to admit I set here with tears in my eyes. They deserved to win that game, they worked for it and it payed off big time. Just proves they don't need that jerk-off Rod and I hope Mich. sees this guy for what he really is and fires him after the first year! Mike

My Dad graduated from WVU in the 40's. I'm not a big fan but I watch them when I can. All the sportcasters could talk about was the off. line being some 50lbs bigger on the OK side than the WV def. Later in the game you could tell that too. Them sooners was just runnin out of gas. I wish that little QB WV has could learn to throw better. He'd be a force to be reckoned with then. I'm not sure I'd blame the former WV coach for leaving all that much. If he had to stand the abuse my BIL said he did I'd have left too. But then it was WV that ran off Bobby Bowden many years ago as well and see where he is today.
I live in the same town with the Univ. of S. Fla. now so I watch them as well. I think they're an up and coming program and a force to be reckoned with in the future.

OI, my older brother was recruited to play for OU in '85. I met Switzer, what no good. I cant stand the Sooners and I think I am probably the only Okie that feels that way. If this state put half as much money and effort into education as they did their stupid football team, we would be the best state in the nation. I get real tired of all the complaining I hear around hear about how the sooners get cheated or how the sooners didnt get a fair break. You cant watch the news or open a paper without being bombarded with Sooner Sooner Sooner!

To my fellow okies, I dont mean to upset you if your big Sooner fans. I just dont get the crazy fanantics about it.

Rusty, I'm not against any coach going elsewhere if that's what he wants. The way he did it is not the way we do things around this state. He never told his team or the University he was leaving until he was caught talking to the wheels at MU. His excuse for leaving was because he wants to coach a big ten team and it had nothing to do with the way he was treated.How do you think the team felt?
WV bent over back wards to kiss his butt after he threatened to leave awhile back and gave him everything he cried for.
I wish they would make a rule that no coaches can leave until the season is finished and they should have no such thing as a contract buyout. A contract is a contract everywhere except in sports a contract is worthless.
South Florida is already a team to be reckoned with!!

I've heard a bit of grumbling too and I'm sure I'll hear more when I get to the in-laws to be. They're ALL sooner fans.

45-70-, I hear ya. I don't hate 'em and I go to the games when I get free tickets but it's red & white everywhere...

I spent four years at OSU and still get that other school shoved down my throat on a reg'ler basis. And that was nearly 25 years ago. Spent my time in the woods, never went to the stadium. Abilene
