My "Beta-Chrony" sometimes acts up on me, but I think it is mostly because I'm a poor techie, and am probably doing something wrong. It has all those features and stuff, and what I usually wind up doing is just writing down the numbers each shot, and doing the 'stats' later on a pocket calculator. In my college-computer-nerd days, I'd probably have found the 'back door' to the firmware, and been using the Beta-Chrony to calculate pH gradients for buffer solutions or something. Gettin' too old, I guess...

Here's our Rossi 24" .357 - stainless sorta takes away from the 'vintage' look, but it is still a sweet gun; kind of a modern-day equivalent to the .32-20's of yesteryear.



Put a couple different small scopes on it with a B-Square mount for awhile, just to sight it in and so on, but for this gun I've wound up mostly using the tang sight. I still think tang sights seem way more fragile than even scopes, though, and would like to arrange a good backup sight for it. May go for my folding Ruger-Ranch-Rifle rear sight that I like ($14 or so from MidwayUsa).



My favorite fold-out-of-the-way backup sight to replace barrel-mounted open sights...

Great investment. Nice to know what YOUR loads are doing out of YOUR rifle. Opens a whole new world. 1886.

I was so encouraged by my results I took out my 38spl+P loads I loaded specially for my Rossi using slower burning powder to take advantage of the barrel length. Once again, the results are very good.

Weapon: 24" Rossi - 38spl+P
Ammo: 158g Zero JSP bullet, 11.5grn H110, Win SPM primers, assorted cases, 1.460" OAL
Weather: Sunny and 80°, light breeze,
Range El: 6,100ft ASL.

Results:
Shot - 1 1,358

Shot - 3 1,368
Shot - 4 1,349
Shot - 5 1,376
Shot - 6 1,356
Shot - 7 1,354
Shot - 8 1,345

Shot-10 1,344

Average: 1,356 - These were not fire breathing loads but rather just a warm 38spl+P load using slower burning powder suitable for a lever gun.

STD Dev.: 10.04 - I'm very pleased with the standard deviation of my loads. That's why they are so accurate as well!

That is great SD on both of the loads. Having a chronograph has help me in my reloading.

i wish some one would do 16" bbl and 20"bbl with factory loads cause i don't reload so the info means nothing to us dummies who don't reload.
